PDF Merge & PDF Splitter + App Reviews

I just spent an hour dragging and dropping 160 files one by one into the sidebar of Preview and when I exported to PDF ended uo with just the first file in the resulting PDF. I didn’t use the Save command because the an article on the Web cautioned not to use it because it was buggy in Yosemite. Then I inadvertently closed the laboriously created PDF. Face palm! No, I am not going to do that again unless I have to! So I checked the APP store and found PDF Merger Free, installed it, and dragged all the files at once to the drop ‘em here pane in PDF Merger Free. It took a while - the files ranged from 250-300 KBeach , but after a couple of minutes there was my merged PDF. With all the pages, in the right order - first time. Zero problems.

This software isn’t beautiful to look at, but it sure saved me this week. It turns out that Apples new version of Preview won’t let you drop thumbnails from one PDF to another anymore (why? why has Apple forsaken us?) but I had to combine several documents for a client to look at. Thank goodness for PDF Merger! You just drop the files you want to merge into the box and hit the button. The resulting files come out perfect. Thank you, PDF Merger, for saving me!

I can’t get this to work at all in Yosemite 10.10.3 No dragging and dropping files, no importing via “file/open”. Nothing works. And… I wouldn’t even be downloading this if Apple’s Preview app allowed the creation of multipage pdf docs. Apple, I sure miss Steve Jobs. Yoesemite is garbage.

WONDERFUL, free, easy to use PDF merger. You can drag-and-drop your PDFs into the app, or select files from the drop down menu, and it merges them in seconds! Then lets you save the merged file directly into the file you selected the original files from (by default, you can choose a different location). So, so, so convenient!

Would have given excellent except for one annoying procedural difficulty. If you need to rearrange the order of the files, for the most part, you can’t just drag a file from where it is to the location order you want it. You have to step it throught the ladder of files one file at a time. If you try to drag it past multiple files it just stays where it is.

It just does what it is supposed to do. No distractions, no problems. Everything is fair and square! Good job!

I’ve used this software about 6 times now, and even though I add files in a sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…. etc, after I’ve merged the pdf files, I’ve discovered that the software rearranges the files out of sequence. So, maybe it’ll be 1, 6, 3, 4, 2, 5…. which is NOT how I added them in the first place. Consequently, I have to delete the merged file and go back and resequence the files into proper order and merge them again. Unfortunately, of this 6 times I’ve used this software, it has screwed up the sequence of the pages at least 5 of those times. This is quickly becoming a pain in the butt. I can see why this app is free. I sure wouldn’t pay for this.

Didn’t keep the order of the documents as I added them. You can sort the documents afterwards, but that’s an extra step.

Preview just was not cooperating with me. This program has saved the day!

The software works great but I just scanned my computer for viruses and it found phishing/malware in one of the software’s sytems folders. Not worth the risk.
